Title tag

This tag is normally located in the ‘head’ tag of your page and specifically in the html programming code. The title tag changes with each page in the website. Make sure that the title is relevant in accordance with the content of your website since search engines use this title when listing your site after a search. Use unique tags for each and every page of your website. This means the title should reflect on the content in that particular page. In short, let the title tag be resourceful to the clients.

Make sure not to use generic title tags such as “untitled” or “page 1” for your site. Also make sure that the titles are as short as possible. Long titles do not help. Lastly, do not in any case use the very same title for all the pages in your site.

Meta Description tag

This tag is located in the ‘head’ tag inside the html code but beneath the title tag. Its aim is to give a summary of that particular page. It can be as short as one sentence or as long as a paragraph. It is used by search engines to describe your web pages. Make sure that the description tag is unique and highly relevant according to the content in the page. In addition to this, use enough information on the tag to properly guide the clients plus the search engines.

Avoid using irrelevant description tags. Also do not use keywords as description tags; this will not count. Generic wordings should also be avoided. Lastly, do not use the same description tag for all your pages; make each tag unique.
